of piecewise smooth optical flow Researchers at Tel Aviv University developed a new algorithm to accurate extract piecewise smooth optical flow-fields by minimizing an appropriate cost functional. Since discontinuities in the vector field are explicitly modelled in the cost functional, the resulting flow (right image) achieves superior accuracy compared to standard approaches (left image).
